Silent Yachts
Silent Yachts specializes in solar-powered, fully electric catamarans, with roots dating back to 2009 and a formal company launch in 2016. The team focuses on merging sustainable technology with luxury yachting to offer a clean alternative to traditional motor boats. Based in Fano, Italy, they develop eco-friendly solutions designed for quiet, long-range cruising.
The current lineup includes the 60, 80, and 120 Explorer series, which provide the comfort of traditional motor yachts without the noise and vibration associated with fossil-fuel engines. By utilizing the top surface area for high-efficiency solar panels, these catamarans can harvest significant amounts of energy from the sun. This design allows for a self-sufficient lifestyle on board with virtually no refueling requirements.
The propulsion systems feature dual electric motors that provide instant torque and smooth operation. For energy storage, each yacht is equipped with water-cooled lithium batteries, while a diesel generator acts as a range extender during unfavorable weather or when higher speeds are required.
Founders Michael and Heike began researching solar-powered marine travel in the 1990s, spending years on engineering and development to optimize the electric drivetrain. Their goal is to provide a harmonious way to experience the sea, free from the fumes and maintenance typical of diesel-powered craft. The resulting boats aim to preserve the natural environments where they travel.
