David Walters Yachts was established by David and Betsy Walters. The company began as a boat builder, with David Walters co-founding Shannon Yachts in 1975 and founding Cambria in 1982. In 2001, the company transitioned into a brokerage.

The headquarters is in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Additional offices are located in Naples, Florida; Newport, Rhode Island; Annapolis, Maryland; Maine; California; and the Caribbean.

The team consists of former captains, boat builders, engineers, and sailors. This collective background informs the service provided during the buying and selling process.
