Founded in 2013 by Phillip Berman, a lifelong sailor, the company is headquartered in Florida, USA. Production occurs in South Africa, a nation known for its boatbuilding resources and ranking as the second-largest catamaran producer globally.

The company operates two factories in South Africa, one located in Cape Town and the other in St Francis. This production base allows the creation of hand-crafted performance sailing catamarans ranging from 42 to 82 feet.

The Balance Catamarans team is composed of experienced sailors, yacht designers, and builders. Their collective goal is to design and construct high-speed blue-water catamarans capable of handling difficult weather conditions.

Phillip Berman brings 40 years of sailing experience and deep knowledge of catamarans to the company. Designs are developed in partnership with award-winning South African designer Anton du Toit of Du Toit Yacht Design, who has produced a substantial volume of custom designs in the southern hemisphere.
