TYDE
A collaboration between BMW and the tech start-up TYDE has resulted in the development of a pioneering luxury boat that integrates advanced automotive technology with sustainable marine mobility. This partnership combines BMW’s leadership in electric mobility and technical components with TYDE’s specialized expertise in boat building and innovation to create a new class of emission-free watercraft.
Designworks, a subsidiary of the BMW Group, led the design process, ensuring a blend of high-end aesthetics and functional innovation. By utilizing hydrofoil technology, the yacht significantly reduces energy consumption compared to traditional hulls, enabling an efficient and high-performance electric propulsion system. This approach aims to accelerate the transition toward climate-friendly mobility on the water, moving away from a reliance on fossil fuels.
The project emphasizes a selective approach to circular materials and high-performance engineering, transferring expertise from the automotive sector to the yachting world. By reimagining the relationship between luxury and sustainability, TYDE and BMW have created a unique experience that provides a quiet, clean, and technologically advanced alternative for the luxury yacht segment.
