Seven Seas Yachts has developed a boat series focused on high performance, efficiency, and seaworthiness following three years of research and development. The product line is built upon the patented Amfihull® design, characterized by a sleek, ultra-low profile and the patented EDS® driveline system.
The hull design features a steep entry angle of 72 degrees, allowing the boat to cut through waves for a soft ride without pounding. The design results in very low drag resistance, enabling the use of smaller engines that achieve higher speeds than traditional competitors.
These yachts maintain a nearly horizontal attitude at all times, with trim angles between 2 and 2.8 degrees at all cruising speeds. Unlike many motor boats, there is no specific planing threshold or “hump,” allowing for efficient cruising at any speed from 5 knots up to the maximum capability.
The boats demonstrate high stability due to an extremely low center of gravity, with the ability to recover from heeling angles as large as 98 degrees. According to the company, the fuel consumption figures are significantly lower than industry competitors, ranging from half to nearly one-third of standard rates.
The construction process utilizes E-glass fibers reinforced with aramid and vinyl ester resins in a sandwich structure with an AIREX® foam core. This method is intended to produce a rigid and durable fiberglass structure that is resistant to osmotic blistering and crazing.
The shipyard employs a vacuum infusion process for construction, which eliminates the release of VOCs into the atmosphere. This technology ensures a more environmentally friendly manufacturing cycle while maintaining the structural integrity required for high-performance boating.
