Ibiza JoySail

Ibiza JoySail is an invitation-only superyacht regatta, bringing together competitive sailing teams, high-performance maxi yachts, and classic cruising vessels in the Balearic Islands. Organized jointly by STP Shipyard Palma and Marina Ibiza in collaboration with the Superyacht Racing Association (SYRA), the four-day event has established itself as a premier late-season gathering on the Mediterranean racing calendar.

The regatta centers around technical coastal courses set in the open waters surrounding Ibiza and Formentera. Racing classes encompass various LOA categories — ranging from 80-foot performance racers to 120-plus-foot superyachts — as well as multihull and cruising divisions evaluated under specialized handicap scoring systems. Race committees utilize dynamic coastal waypoints, natural island landmarks, and robotic mark technology to challenge tactical navigation across changing sea conditions.

A signature component of the event is the Palma-to-Ibiza record challenge, a perpetual trophy competition open to participating yachts. During a dedicated late-summer weather window, competing vessels depart from the starting line off the Punta Cala Figuera lighthouse in Mallorca and navigate the open passage to the finish line at the Tagomago Island lighthouse off northeastern Ibiza. This passage challenge allows skippers to leverage favorable wind windows to establish or break benchmark crossing times across different vessel classes.

Shoreside operations center at Marina Ibiza, providing participants, owners, and support crews with full berth support, technical services, and dedicated concierge amenities. By pairing high-caliber offshore racing with structured social programs, technical sail and rigging support, and access to local refit infrastructure, Ibiza JoySail delivers a refined regatta experience for the global superyacht community.
