Clipper Round the World Yacht Race

The Clipper Round the World Yacht Race combines intense competition and human endeavor as the world’s greatest ocean adventure, allowing individuals with no prior sailing experience to pit personal wits, skills, and courage against the toughest oceans on the planet. Sir Robin Knox-Johnston established this biennial event in 1996, and Clipper Ventures plc manages the competition.

The global ocean sailing challenge spans eleven months and covers 40,000 nautical miles across six continents, utilizing a matched fleet of Clipper 70 ocean racing yachts divided among twelve competing teams to reach major markets.

More than 700 race crew members originating from over forty countries participate in each edition, taking on a defining race of a lifetime while battling severe natural conditions. Ordinary people achieve extraordinary feats through strong teamwork and mental fortitude, choosing to sign up for a single leg, combine multiple stages, or complete a full year-long circumnavigation.
