Avikus is a startup company specializing in developing cutting-edge autonomous navigation solutions. Founded in January 2021 by Hyundai Heavy Industries Group, the world’s best shipbuilder, the company’s name is derived from the old Viking term AVVIKER, signifying a pioneer in autonomous ship technology. Avikus has a history of successful innovation, commercializing the world’s first deep-learning based navigation assistant system in 2020.

Ship autonomous navigation technology represents the crystallization of cutting-edge innovation. It combines sensor convergence and Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based cognitive technologies, utilizing radar, AIS, vision, and lidar, with ship dynamics-based judgment and control technology. Avikus’s autonomous vessel solutions are designed to be supplied widely to the market, planning to supply navigation assistance solutions to over 100 vessels annually.

The company’s navigation assistant system offers a range of advanced features for yacht owners. These include 360° Surround View with pan, tilt, and zoom capabilities, along with Dynamic Object Detection and Virtual Bumper technology.

The system also provides Docking Assist Guidance, featuring a Home Point return feature and an intuitive 3D User Interface. Furthermore, the technology offers In-Water Calibration, eliminating the need for haul-out during installation, and ensures Universal Compatibility via HDMI and USB-C with major brands (Garmin, Raymarine, Navico, and more).
