TRICAT
Choosing Tricat means choosing a high level of standards in terms of performance, build quality, and finishes. Tricats are seaworthy, simple, responsive, and very safe boats, whether you’re sailing solo with family or friends.
The TRICAT shipyard stands out for its design and production of trimarans from A to Z in Brittany (France). We are designers, builders and sellers.
Design has been at the heart of the shipyard since its creation, in fact all TRICATs have been co-designed with Jack Michal, our architect, and Antoine Houdet, the manager. In 2020 Tricat created its design office, to become more involved in the thinking and design of its trimarans. The Tricat 6.90 is a demonstration of its efficiency .
A Tricat is made for sailing. The shipyard provides its owners with access to an available and efficient trimaran tracking service, and also offers the opportunity to benefit from the latest developments throughout its life.
Owning a TRICAT means adhering to this philosophy and to the special relationship that we build with our customers over time and benefiting from the experience of the Tricat community.
TRICAT in the trimaran world is:
- The oldest French trimaran builder.
- 20 years of experience (since 2003) and 200 trimarans sailing.
- A complete range of transportable and folding trimarans from 20 to 30 feet.
- Robust, high-performance boats that are easy to use, both single-handed and with a crew.
- A team of passionate sailors, known for listening to their customers.
- A desire to continuously improve its multihulls and its environmental impact.
- A proven, easy, fast, efficient and recognized folding system.
- Ever easier handling (masting, launching), possible single-handed for all our transportable models.
- Access the inaccessible with the shallow draft of our trimarans
- Undeniable build quality (standard infusion since 2006)
At TRICAT, we attach great importance to our slogan “Navigate Differently”
More than a slogan, it represents navigation as we practice it:
- Sail as much as possible and use the engine only for maneuvers in port.
- Be minimalist and unload what you never use, pay attention to the weight on board and only take what is necessary on board.
- Aim for wild coves rather than crowded ports.
- Detach yourself from technology and electronics and only use it when necessary.
- Demonstrate seamanship and respect all sea users.
- Enjoy every trip and free yourself from constraints.
Continuous, technological and sustainable development
The boating industry is currently not a model in terms of ecology, and Tricat is aware of this. This is why we maintain a technological watch on solutions to reduce our impact on the environment. With this in mind, Gwalaz, the Tricat 23.5 made of flax fiber manufactured in 2013, has been a rich experience for our shipyard, allowing us to confront new manufacturing solutions.
We believe that flax fiber is not yet a sufficient solution for the environment and for mass production, but we are continuing our technological monitoring, particularly regarding materials. And we are striving to reduce our environmental footprint as much as possible with solutions accessible on our scale.
Our boats are manufactured in-house, we work as much as possible with local suppliers, the sails are made in Auray, the trampolines in Vannes, the masts in La Rochelle, the upholstery in Séné, etc… In addition, and since 2006, our boats are manufactured in infusion in order to limit material losses to a minimum. And of course we sort and recycle our waste!
